Aim

This is an examination period to qualify advanced riggers up to examiner rigger status

Duration

The course is held over a period of 14 days, 5 days attending a basic rigger course, 5 days attending a parachute rigger course and 4 days attending an advanced packer's course.

Course Instructors

• 2 Rigger Examiners per course from different establishments

Qualifications to attend the parachute riggers course

• Must be a association member
• Must be an advanced rigger of 2 years standing
• Must have attended a methods of instruction course

Examination Syllabus

Advanced Packers course
• Instruct in at least 4 lessons
• Demonstrate a reserve repack to candidates
• Coach candidates as required
• Complete training records
• Recommend any changes in the course to the examiners

Basic Riggers course
• Instruct in at least 4 lessons
• Assist examiners as necessary
• Coach basic riggers as necessary
• Recommend any changes in the course to the examiners

Parachute Riggers course
• Assist examiners with the planning and preparation
• Check each candidates course work
• Check each candidates submission of previous work
• Mark all candidates training records with the assistance of the examiners
• Complete a course report
• Debrief candidates
• Recommend any changes in the course to the examiners

• Present 25 questions for the parachute riggers examination and 10 questions for the advanced riggers examination papers
• Present a paper on an advanced aspect of rigging work

Records

All examiner riggers must keep a log of all candidates trained to include training records and course reports.

Currency

• Examiner riggers must have their association Membership card endorsed, to be renewed each year with membership
• The renewal form will have to be signed by a rigger examiner who must be satisfied that they are current and up to date with current practices, and have attended at least 1 rigging course within 2 years.
